The inaugural Secondary Schools competition, organised by the
Central Districts Branch of the New Zealand Farm Forestry Association ( INC), was
held last week. The Association’s aim is to promote the use of sustainably grown,
decorative timbers.
Additional sponsorship for the awards was provided by Bunnings, and UCOL staff
judged the entries in two categories, Year 11 (Level One) and Year 12 (Level Two).
Awatapu College students won five of the six awards presented, a stunning effort.
Congratulations to the following students, and to Mr Harris, their teacher:
Level One:
First: Ethan Pook
Second: Jackson Broome
Third Corey: Foothead
Level Two:
First: Stefan Lauridsen
Third: Rebecca McCrea
Entries are on display in the public library until the end of this week.
