STEM Scholarship

Congratulations to Mosiah Igatia who has received a scholarship to attend the Pūhoro STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Academy for ten days in Hawaii. The Pūhoro STEM Academy, together with the Our Land and Water National Science Challenge, will send a group of ten Year 12 students to Hawaii to meet and work with an Indigenous STEM Academy at the University of Hawaii in Hilo. Students will be involved in projects that combine western and native science methods. The group will also participate in astronomy activities on Mauna Kea – the world’s largest observatory for optical, infrared and submillimetre astronomy as well as learning indigenous knowledge of the importance of the sacred mountain top. Well done, Mosiah. For more information regarding the Pūhoro STEM programme and Mosiah's trip to Hawaii, please click here to read the Manawatu Standard article.
