Loves Me Not

Awatapu College Year 12 students have been given the opportunity to participate in the Loves-Me-Not programme. Loves-Me-Not is a ‘whole-school approach’ to prevent abusive behaviour in relationships. The programme is designed especially for Year 12 students and includes a one-day workshop. The workshop will take place on Tuesday 28 March and runs for the whole day. There is no cost for this activity. Students are expected to wear normal mufti. A BBQ lunch will be provided free of charge for the Year 12 students.

Students and parents/caregives may wish to watch the 10-minute introductory video by Nigel Latta that explains how Loves-Me-Not teaches senior secondary school students about healthy relationships. The video can be accessed on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/c-gt7QG7GEc

Festival of Cultures

Last week Awatapu College celebrated the Festival of Cultures. This is an exciting week of activities where the vibrant and colourful cultures within our community are embraced and celebrated together. In all, over 30 nationalities were represented during the Festival showing the rich tapestry of culture within our school.

The highlights of the week were the Japanese Open Room on Monday, the Amazing Race on Tuesday, the Market Day on Wednesday, the International Dress Day on Thursday, and the International Soccer Match on Friday.
