Japanese Immersion Day

At the end of Term Two, 16 Awatapu College students attended the Japanese Matsuri/Immersion Day hosted by Massey University. The day included a Japanese archery demonstration, a speech contest, a trivia quiz, a manga contest and an origami challenge. Thank you to the local Japanese teachers for organising the event and to Sushi MaMa and the Sasakawa Foundation for providing the sushi lunch. It was a fun day and hopefully a motivating factor for students studying Japanese.

Awatapu students were once again exemplary in their behaviour, being the only students to stay behind at the end to clean up! Awatapu College also took out 1st place in 4 out of the 6 categories:
▪ Year 12 Speech - Abii Bingle (1st place)
▪ Year 13 Speech - Matilda Fyles (1st place)
▪ Manga Contest - 1st place
▪ Trivia Contest - 1st equal
